Dr. Kasturi Bhuyan joined the Department of Civil Engineering as an Assistant Professor on December 2021.She chose this line of work because she thinks that learning happens via teaching. The only career where learning never stops is imparting knowledge. She is now teaching structural engineering curriculum classes including other essential civil engineering courses such as Structural Design-I, Structural Design-II, and Advanced Structural Analysis.
Kasturi was born in 1990 in Guwahati to Samudra Kumar Bhuyan and AlakaTalukdar Bhuyan. She has completed her Ph. D in Structural Engineeringspecialization (thesis work in the broad area of blast resistant structures) on June 2022 from Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG). Kasturi has done her (post-graduation) M.Tech in Structural Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering from National Institute of Technology Silchar in the year 2015. She received her Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Civil Engineering from Gauhati University. She also holds a diploma in civil engineering from the Assam Engineering Institute Chandmari. She was a great student who ranked first in her diploma class (2010). She also was a Gauhati University topper (Civil engineering) in the year 2013.
Her areas of research interests include ultra-high strength concrete development, probabilistic methods of analysis, reliability analysis of structures, blast resistant design of structures analysis, fragility estimates and code calibration.
She has learnt Music and completed Visharad under BhatkhandeSangitVidyapith, Lucknow. She has secured GATE Examination-2013 in Civil Engineering. Singing, dancing, drafting, crocheting, and creating are just a few of her many passions.
