Biography

Dr. Bhrigu Kumar Das is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Girijananda Chowdhury University, Assam. He earned his PhD from KLE University in Belgaum, Karnataka, India, and his M. Pharm (Pharmacology) from KLE College of Pharmacy in Hubballi, Karnataka. He joined Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Pharmaceutical Science in Azara, Guwahati, on January 4, 2021. Currently, he teaches curriculum courses listed in the PCI syllabus, including Pharmacology for B. Pharm, Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology, Principles of Drug Discovery, and Pharmacological Practical for M. Pharm. He passed the Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) conducted by the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in 2013. With over nine years of experience in research and teaching, he demonstrates a strong commitment to his work and a positive attitude.

Dr. Das’s research focuses on identifying pharmacological targets and molecules, understanding molecular mechanisms, and exploring the therapeutic potential of natural compounds, especially related to cancer, particularly hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), diabetes complications, and microbiota-associated diseases. His expertise includes analyzing the effects of oxidative stress, altered metabolic pathways, and cell signaling on the development and progression of HCC. He has published numerous scientific papers (both research and review articles) and book chapters in reputable journals. He serves as a member in the project implementation group (PIG) responsible for a sponsored project from the Department of Science and Technology, Fund for Improvement of S & T Infrastructure (DST-FIST Level 0) in 2022, with a total budget of Rs. 110 lakhs. Additionally, he acts as a reviewer for national and international journals.

He is a distinguished member of the Human Ethics Committees Association (HECA), based in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. He serves as the member secretary of the Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC) at Girijananda Chowdhury University, Guwahati, Assam. He has actively participated in numerous conferences, workshops, and training programs, demonstrating his dedication to professional growth and ongoing learning.
