Dr. Barsha Chhetri joined as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Education in April, 2024. She completed her doctoral thesis from Mizoram University, Aizawl and M. Phil. in Education from Sikkim University. Her research work focussed on gender portrayal in secondary school textbooks, garnering attention of the stakeholders regarding the vital role the textbooks play in forming social realities and the need to revise the contents periodically. Her key role in Girijananda Chowdhury University is to help frame an all-inclusive syllabi for the newly established department while abiding by the norms laid down by National Education Policy 2020. Prior to this, she worked briefly as an Assistant Professor at Ghoom Jorebungalow Degree College, Darjeeling. In addition, she also worked as a Research Assistant in the project entitled “Developing a Framework on Pedagogical Content Knowledge on Arithmetic for Primary School Teachers” sponsored by ERIC, NCERT, New Delhi. Her interest lies in areas such as educational psychology, philosophical foundations of education and issues pertaining to women education.
