Ms. Arpita Paul is currently serving as an Assistant Professor at Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Pharmaceutical Science (GIPS), Tezpur. With more than five years of research experience, she specializes in pharmacognosy, ethnopharmacology, and natural product drug discovery. She recently submitted her Ph.D. thesis at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dibrugarh University, Assam, where her research explored the therapeutic potential of Garcinia species against diabetic neuropathy.
From 2022 to 2025, she served as a Senior Research Fellow in a project funded by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). During this tenure, she developed expertise in herbal drug standardization, bioactive compound isolation, HPTLC instrumentation, in vitro cell culture techniques, and in vivo pharmacological models. She is also skilled in animal handling and behavioral studies, with experience in assessing neuroprotective, antioxidant, and anti-diabetic activities of natural products.
She earned her M. Pharm in Pharmacognosy with distinction from Dibrugarh University, focusing on the pharmacognostic standardization and neurotoxicity assessment of Morus alba fruits.
Ms. Paul has authored numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals, contributed book chapters with several publishers, and serves as a peer reviewer for national and international journals. She has been recognized with the Dr. P.D. Sethi Memorial Award (2020) and the Best Poster Presentation Award at an international conference (2025).
With a passion for both teaching and research, she strives to bridge traditional knowledge with modern science, inspiring the next generation of pharmaceutical scientists.
