Senior officials of Bhutan Govt. discuss educational collaboration with GCU Assam

A delegation from Bhutan, consisting of senior officials of the Royal Government of Bhutan as well as the Royal Bhutanese Consulate General, visited Girijananda Chowdhury University, Azara, on May 13.

The visit marked the beginning of education and academic collaboration between Girijananda Chowdhury University and the Royal Government of Bhutan. The visiting officials included Ambassador Tshwang Chophel Dorji, Secretary of Ministry of Education and Skills Development, Bhutan, Mr. Sonam Wangdi, Deputy Chief Program Officer at Department of Education Programme, Consul General H.E. Jigme Thinlye Namgyal and Consul Phurpa Shering. Together, they were accompanied by twelve teachers from Bhutan, including Mr. Suren Pradhan, Principal of Ugyentse Primary School. During their tour of the university campus, the delegation made a visit to the departments and research facilities.

The delegation met with Hon’ble Chancellor, Prof. Jayanta Deka, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kandarpa Das and Registrar, Prof. Dipankar Saha of Girijananda Chowdhury University, in addition to the Deans of their respective institutions. During the meeting, the potential for active collaboration between the government of Bhutan and Girijananda Chowdhury University was deliberated for academic alliance and exchange programs.

The Girijananda Chowdhury University is firmly committed towards building a vigorous relationship of friendship and cooperation with the Royal Government of Bhutan.
