An NCC cadet of GCU – Cpl. Pobon Limbu has been selected as a lone candidate from 7 Assam Battalion NCC for the BMC (Basic Mountaineering Course) – 56 at NIMAS (National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports), Dirang, Arunachal Pradesh. The cadet has successfully completed the nearly one-month course from 17th September till 14th October 2025. The course comprised of the cadets from Assam and Odisha involving around 5 battalions of participation with personnel from Army and Airforce. The course covered 1 mile test and artificial wall climbing, new melting and natural wall climbing, weapon display with 18 Sikh LI Army, tent pitching and survival activities, ice climbing rescue drill and many more.
The Cpl cadet not only grabbed the unique opportunity but also gathered a lifetime learning lessons on the national defence techniques at the high-altitude regions. This definitely helped his career with the personality development with high discipline, physical toughness and courageous mental preparedness.
