ELECTRONIC TYPEWRITER

HISTORY

The first electric typewriters were introduced in the 1920s. These machines used an electric motor to power the carriage, which made typing easier and faster than the manual versions. The IBM Electric Typewriter debuted in 1935, revolutionizing office work with a more efficient, less physically demanding typing experience.

UTILITY

By the 1980s, electronic typewriters began to dominate office spaces. These machines had advanced features like word storage, automatic centering, line spacing adjustments, correction tapes, and more. Electronic typewriters also provided more customization options, such as different fonts, print sizes, and underlining.

CLIMAX

As personal computers became more affordable and widespread in the 1990s, electronic typewriters began to lose ground. Computers, with their word processing software, offered far more flexibility and capabilities, including editing, formatting, and storing documents. With the advent of Microsoft Word and other word processing applications, typewriters (both manual and electronic) began to be replaced by computers for office work. People could now perform more complex tasks with a PC than an electronic typewriter.
