Indigenous people and ethnic minorities have strived to preserve their rich heritages and linguistic characteristics against colonial powers, expanding nation-states, as well as the homogenizing forces of globalization and modernization. Emphasising the need to revive and strengthen endangered indigenous cultures, the United Nations has designated the period from 2022-2023 as the “International Decade of Indigenous Languages” in an effort to promote, protect, and revitalize indigenous languages around the world. This international conferenceaims to provide a hybrid platform for scholars, practitioners, faculty, and enthusiasts to come together and explore the significance of indigenous culture,language teaching pedagogy,share insights, and discuss strategies for its preservation and promotion.
