FDP on Fundamenntals of CAD in 3D Printing & Reverse Engineeering through 3D Scanning

About the Event:

The Faculty Development Proggramme was focused on providing hands-on training on CAD Modelling, 3D Printing, and 3D Scanning to the faculty members and laboratoory instructors of Girijananda Chowdhury Institutte of Management & Technology and Girijanaanda Chowdhury Institute of Pharmaceutical Science, Guwahati. The programme aimed to equipp the participants with practical skills and exposee them to the potential applications of these teechnologies. The programme was facilitated by Mr. Bhabajit Baruah, a Tech Guru, who introduced the participants to an online Design CAD Software. The participants learned to use this software for modeling their designs, which could later be fabricated using 3D Printing technology. Mr. Baruah extensively discussed various aspects of 3D Printing during the sessiion, including its types, applications, the softwaree used for processing CAD designs, the printing process, and post-processing techniques. To provide a practical understanding, the participaants were given a demonstration of the two 3D Priinters available in the lab. They had the opport unity to fabricate their designs using these printerrs, allowing them to experience the entire 3D printing process firsthand. In addition to 3D Prinnting, Mr. Baruah also provided a detailed demmonstration of 3D Scanning and explained its applications in Reverse Engineering, Inspection, and Dimensional Analysis. The participants had the chance to handle the 3D Scanner and practice scanning various products, as well as scanning the faces of their colleagues. As part of thee programme, the participants were assigned small projects, which they successfully completed within the given timeframe. This practical exer cise allowed them to apply their newly acqquired skills and reinforce their understanding of CAD Modelling, 3D Printing, and 3D Scanning. The five-day FDP concluded with a closing ceeremony where certificates were distributed to thhe attendees. The participants expressed their satiisfaction with the programme and showed eaggerness to attend advanced courses at AICTE-IDEEA Lab, indicating the success of the programmme in meeting its objectives. Overall, the Faculty Development Programme aimed to provide facuulty members and laboratory instructors with practical skills in CAD Modelling, 3D Printing, and 3D Scanning. It offered valuable hands-on experrience and exposed the participants to the potential applications of these technologies in various fields.
