The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in association with Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) under Girijananda Chowdhury University (GCU) celebrates ‘World Environment Day’ on 5th of June,2023.

The celebration started with a plantation programme at around 10am. The ‘DIVIT FOUNDATION’,an NGO also joined hands thereby contributing towards its success.

The programme started with an informative speech on the importance of protecting the environment delivered by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kandarpa Das. Thereafter, the saplings were planted within the University campus in the presence of Hon’ble Chancellor, Prof. Alak Kumar Buragohain, Dean Academic, Dr. Chandana Goswami, Director of IQAC, Dr. Mukta Ranjan Singha, Dr. S. Robert Ravi, Dean, School of Engineering and Technology and Principal, GIMT Guwahati of the Girijananda Chowdhury University (GCU), Dr. P. Malairajan, Principal, GIPS Guwahati of the GCU and other faculty members and students.

The plantation program was then followed by a street play by the students on the theme ‘BEAT PLASTIC POLLUTION’ at Dharapur Bazaar to create awareness among the masses on the ban of plastics and make them conscious about the adverse consequences of dumping waste in the Deepor Beel which has turned out to be a serious ecological concern now.

The students used play cards with imprinted slogans and banners to address the gathering and convey their messages.

In addition, six numbers of standees were permanently fixed near Dharapur on the bank of Deepor Beel for the above stated purpose.
