Workshop on e-Pharmacy held at GCU

The School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Girijananda Chowdhury University (GCU), Assam, in collaboration with Assam Pharmacy Council, organized a one-day workshop for in-service hospital pharmacists on the theme “Emergence of e-Pharmacy: Opportunities and Challenges for Pharmacists” on 10th June, 2023.

The workshop aimed to provide a platform for the pharmacists to update their knowledge and skills on the emerging trends and issues related to e-pharmacy, which is the online delivery of medicines and other health products.

The workshop was inaugurated by Mr. Jashodaranjan Das, President of SSA, GCU, who welcomed the delegates and speakers. He was followed by Prof. (Dr.) Kandarpa Das, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of GCU, who highlighted the importance and relevance of the workshop in the current scenario.

The keynote speakers for the workshop were Dr. Bishnu Prasad Deka, Medical Director, Central Hospital, N.F. Railway, Maligaon, Guwahati; Prof. Biswajit Mukherjee, Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, Jadavpur University; and Mr. Hridayananda Mahanta Retd. Drug Controller, Assam. They delivered insightful lectures on various aspects of e-pharmacy, such as its advantages and disadvantages, legal and ethical implications, quality assurance and consumer protection, and future prospects.

The workshop was attended by delegates from every district of Assam who were immensely benefited from the talks given by the keynote speakers. The president and secretary of Association of Advanced Pharmacy Practitioners (AAPP) and All Assam Pharmacist Service Association (AAPSA) were also present in the event. They also participated in an interactive session where they raised their queries and shared their experiences and feedback.

The workshop concluded with a valedictory speech by Dr Rupa Sengupta, Assistant Professor in the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, GCU, who was the convener of the workshop. She thanked all the speakers, delegates and organizers for making the workshop a success.
