A two days interactive session on the topic “Recent Advancements in Drug Discovery” was held at Girijananda Chowdhury University on 5th and 6th of June, 2023 for students of M. Pharm and faculty members. Prof. Samir Bhattacharya and Prof. Shelley Bhattacharya, School of Life Sciences, Dept. of Zoology, Viswa Bharti University, Santiniketan graced the platform as the keynote speakers.
DAY1: Prof. Samir Bhattacharya delivered lecture on the topic “ Excess lipid accumulation is associated with Type II diabetes (T2D) and cardiovascular problems”. The lecture showered light on the recent advanced reports about the pathophysiology and factors related to onset of type II diabetes and its probable targets for treatment.
Prof. Shelley Bhattacharya spoke on the topic “Stem Cells: Perspectives and challenges” highlighting the current trends of research in the field and the future prospects.
Individual technical sessions were followed by question answer rounds. DAY 2: A discussion was held on the proposal for establishing Drug Discovery Centre addressing the various queries and seeking advices from the invited experts regarding the possible outcomes and challenges.
