The Department of Mathematics is committed to provide a stimulating learning environment, to foster the ability to solve and analyze critically the problems and arrive at precise conclusions. Today, mathematics is used throughout the world as an essential tool in many fields, including natural science, engineering, medicine, and the social sciences. All the branches of mathematics concerned with application of mathematical knowledge to other fields, inspire and make use of new mathematical discoveries and sometimes lead to the development of entirely new disciplines. In Girijananda Chowdhury University, the department is committed to make the students recognize the value of mathematics and its relationship with other subjects. Stefan Banach, the Polish mathematician said, “Mathematics is the most beautiful and most powerful creation of the human spirit”. To understand the beauty of the subject and to develop love for it, the department has been organizing quiz, seminars, symposia, workshops on mathematics and science among students and teachers from various disciplines. The department’s continual effort is in improving the quality of students so that they take interest in higher studies in the future.
