Dr. Sidharth Shankar is the Dean (Academics) at Girijananda Chowdhury University, Assam. He is a seasoned academic leader and institution builder with over 23 years of experience in higher education, research, and administration.

Dr. Shankar holds a Ph.D. in Management from B.R. Ambedkar Bihar University, Muzaffarpur, an MBA from ICFAI B-School, Hyderabad, M.A. and B.A. (Hons) in German Language and Communication from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Ecology and Environment.

Prior to assuming this role, Dr. Shankar served as the Vice-Chancellor of Indira Gandhi Technological and Medical Sciences University, Arunachal Pradesh (since January 2023) and held additional charge as Vice-Chancellor of International University, Nagaland (since April 2025). During his tenure, he achieved significant institutional growth on parameters such as launching of new courses, alignment of existing courses with NEP 2020, initiation of NAAC processes, launching of new skill development programmes, strengthening of internationalization efforts, signed MoUs with global organizations (including the UN-affiliated Global Peace Foundation), and successfully organized high-profile events such as the 43rd World Management Congress.

He has supervised Ph.D. scholars to completion, published in UGC, Scopus, and ABDC journals, and has interests in sustainability, leadership, CSR, international trade, and public policy. He is UGC-NET qualified, Google Certified in Digital Marketing, and proficient in English, Hindi, German, and Bengali.
