The Department of Business Administration at GCU organized an Industrial Visit to Ajanta Pharma Limited located in Palashbari, Guwahati Assam, a leading pharmaceutical company in India on 5th October, 2024, Saturday. Ajanta Pharma’s Guwahati facility is a comprehensive pharmaceutical manufacturing plant spread across approximately 48 bighas of land. This plant utilizes advanced machinery from Germany and South Korea to produce a variety of dosage forms such as tablets, capsules, ointments, jellies, and sterile eye drops. The facility operates in two shifts, each spanning 8 hours, for a total of 16 operational hours per day.
The session was coordinated by the two Faculty Members of the respective department Mr. Faruk Ahmed and Mr. Abhishek Kakati along with 22 students od BBA 5th Semester. The session was incorporated under the guidance of Vice President Operation Mr. Biplab Mishra of the organization. The visit aimed to provide students with insights into the manufacturing process, students visited the Secondary sections of manufacturing facility viz., raw material storage, manufacturing (compression and granulation) blister and strip packaging, finish product storage, and ware house, water system, filtration system etc. The students carefully observed Packaging of the Dosage. All the products are manufactured as per regulatory guidelines of USFDA and WHO.
The visit was also aimed at gaining insight into the operations of a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility, including drug production, quality control, and research and development. The company is known for its state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, rigorous quality control standards, and commitment to research and development, making it an ideal site for students to learn about pharmaceutical operations. The visit provided invaluable insights into the inner workings of a large-scale pharmaceutical company, offering the students a practical understanding of how medicines are developed, produced, and distributed on a global scale.
