Mr. Abhishek Choudhury, Director of Nanobiz India Private Limited and Vice President of Indo-Japan Business Council presented at Girijananda Chowdhury University, Assam on 30th Sep 2024, about Intellectual Property and its importance. Mr. Abhishek is an Indian patent agent, has a post graduate diploma in patents law and has close to 20 years of experience dealing with various intellectual property projects starting from filing and drafting of patent applications, patinformatics and technology transfer. Mr, Choudhury talked about intellectual property, different types of intellectual property, types of subject matter covered under copyright, or trademark or patent. He deep dived into patents and elaborated on topics like philosophy of patenting, patentability criteria, patenting process and technology commercialization. He has shared various pathways available to get patent protection in different countries across the globe. Mr. Choudhury gave complete idea about what is patentable in India and what kind of inventions are not patentable and why. Mr. Choudhury interacted with students on various career opportunities present in the field of intellectual property and different courses offered by various institutes. He also interacted with the students and faculty members to answer their queries. This seminar helped in wide understanding of various terms under intellectual property, career prospects and their practical use for academia.
