Mr. Gyanjyoti Bora joined as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Laboratory Science, School of Allied Health Sciences, Girijananda Choudhury University. He is involved in teaching, academic activities, and student mentoring in the field of Medical Laboratory Science.
He completed his Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) from Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH), under Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences (SSUHS) in 2022, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology (B.Sc. MLT) from Kaziranga University in 2024, where he was awarded the Gold Medal. He subsequently completed his Master’s in Medical Laboratory Science (MMLS) with specialization in Medical Microbiology from the Regional Institute of Paramedical and Nursing Sciences (under MoHFW, Govt. of India), affiliated with Mizoram University, in 2026. He completed his postgraduate degree with Distinction and secured First Rank in the Medical Microbiology specialization.
He completed his six-month compulsory internship at Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH) as part of his B.Sc. MLT training. He also completed a one-month internship in Molecular Biology and Microbiology at the Multidisciplinary Research Unit (MRU), JMCH. He had done one month training at the ICMR Viral Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (VRDL), Regional Medical Research Centre–North East (RMRC-NE), Dibrugarh, where he gained hands-on exposure to molecular diagnostic and microbiological techniques,
He was awarded the Focus Area Science Technology Summer Fellowship (FAST-SF) 2025, jointly offered by IAS, INSA and NASI, through which he carried out research work in the Department of Biochemistry, Central University of Rajasthan (CURAJ), Ajmer.
His research interests include medical microbiology, antimicrobial resistance, infectious diseases, bacterial biofilms, and nanotechnology-based antimicrobial approaches. His postgraduate dissertation focused on the green synthesis of silver nanoparticles using Embelia vestita leaf extract and evaluation of their antibacterial activity against drug-resistant bacterial isolates from surgical site infections.
Apart from academics and research, he enjoys travelling, exploring new places and learning new skills.
