Ms. Gayatri Duwarah joined the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Girijananda Chowdhury University (GCU), Guwahati, as an Assistant Professor on 14 August 2026. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Information Technology at Gauhati University, with research specialization in Responsible Artificial Intelligence, Explainable AI, Vision-Language Models, and Multimodal Learning.
She earned her B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from Assam Down Town University and her M.Tech in Information Technology from Gauhati University. She has nearly seven years of academic experience in technical education and over one and a half years of industry experience as a Web Developer in technology startups.
Her research interests span Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Vision-Language Models, Responsible AI, Explainable AI, and the preservation of indigenous knowledge through intelligent systems. She has authored and co-authored research publications in reputed international conferences and journals, with recent work focusing on evaluating Vision-Language Models . Ms. Duwarah has successfully qualified the UGC-NET for Ph.D. admission and has been recognized for her academic excellence through the Dewang Mehta Felicitation of Toppers and as the Academic Topper of her B.Tech programme. She has also served in several academic and administrative capacities, including as SPOC for the Infosys Springboard Programme, faculty recruitment subject expert, member of anti-ragging initiatives, and Editor-in-Chief of a college magazine.
In addition to her academic qualifications, she completed the prestigious Semiconductor Fabrication 101 certification offered jointly by Purdue University and The University of Texas at Austin, sponsored by Intel Corporation, gaining exposure to semiconductor manufacturing technologies and emerging trends in chip fabrication.
Ms. Duwarah actively contributes to the academic research community as a peer reviewer and has reviewed research papers for GCON 2026 organized by IIT Guwahati and 2AI 2026 (International Conference on Advances in Artificial Intelligence) held at the University of Kashmir. She regularly participates in research, publication, and academic quality assurance activities in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Intelligent Systems.
She is proficient in English, Assamese, and Hindi and is committed to advancing quality education, interdisciplinary research, and innovation in emerging computing technologies
