An industrial visit was conducted from the 2nd to 3rd of September 2025 at Fresh Air Limited by the School of Allied Health Sciences, Girijananda Chowdhury University. The visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure and gain insight into biomedical waste management operations and procedures.
Day 1: On the first day (2nd of September, 2025) Mr. Prayash Borah, Assistant Professor, Department of Medical Laboratory Technology, led 41 first-year undergraduate students and 2 postgraduate students from the School of Allied Health Sciences.
Day 2: On the second day (3rd of September, 2025) Dr. Subarna Sankar Das (PT), Assistant Professor, Department of Physiotherapy, led a group of 41 first year undergraduate students of the School of Allied Health Sciences and 3 postgraduate students from the School of Allied Health Sciences.
The students gained valuable insights about the processes of biomedical waste management adopted within the plant during the visit. They were made aware of the segregation, treatment, recycling and safe disposal procedures of bio-medical waste which play a vital role in the sustainability of the environment and safety of people.
Sessions were supplemented with elaborate descriptions made by Mr. Niren Kalita, Manager, Factory Administration and Mr. Kaushik Das, Engineer, Factory Operations who took the students through the working process of the factory and responded to questions regarding biomedical waste handling and management.
The industrial visit proved to be highly beneficial for the students as it opened the gap between theoretical learning and real-world practices. It has also improved their knowledge of industry standards and procedures that will help them grow professionally in the healthcare industry.
