The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of GCU organized an awareness programme titled “Cyber Jagrookta”

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Girijananda Chowdhury University (GCU) organized an awareness programme titled “Cyber Jagrookta – A Workshop on Cyber Security” for the faculty members and staff of the university.

Mr. Subhasmit Malakar, CEO of Trusnetix Technologies Pvt. Ltd. was invited as the Resource Person for the session. The workshop was anchored by Prof. Vidhya Srinivasan, who began the programme by introducing the resource person and the other invited guests. This was followed by the felicitation of the guests and the resource person.

In his welcome address, Dr. Mukta Ranjan Singha, Director, IQAC, emphasized the significance of cyber awareness in today’s digital era.

During the session, Mr. Malakar discussed various forms of cyberattacks, including phishing, malware, ransomware, and social engineering, highlighting the growing need to stay informed about evolving cyber threats. He also shared essential cyber safety practices such as using passphrases instead of simple passwords, enabling two-factor authentication, keeping software regularly updated, and downloading applications only from trusted sources.

The resource person urged participants to remain vigilant, adopt safe digital habits, and actively promote cyber security awareness among their peers.

The workshop proved to be highly insightful and interactive, offering participants a deeper understanding of digital hygiene and the importance of proactive cybersecurity practices in daily life. It not only enriched their knowledge of safe online behavior but also inspired them to act as ambassadors of cyber awareness within the university. Overall, the session successfully promoted a culture of cyber safety, responsibility, and resilience among the GCU community.
