Ms. Debika Sarmah presently holds the position of Assistant Professor at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Girijananda Chowdhury University at Tezpur campus. She has joined on 19th August 2024. At present, she is teaching the curriculum courses for B. Pharm and D. Pharm, such as Social Pharmacy, and Remedial Biology. Prior to this, she worked as an Assistant Professor at NEF College of Pharmacy Guwahati, where she gathered valuable knowledge and experiences in teaching and learning processes.
She obtained a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Pharmaceutical Science, Guwahati, 2017. She then completed the Master of Pharmacy specializing in Pharmacology at the same institute in 2023. During her postgraduate study, Ms. Sarmah conducted research focused on the “Evaluation of hepatoprotective and Nephroprotective effect of Chrysin against Sodium Valproate-induced toxicity”, showcasing her dedication to advancing the understanding of pharmacological interventions for complex diseases. Ms. Sarmah is currently doing her Ph.D. at the Department of Pharmaceutical Science, Girijananda Chowdhury University, Assam.
Ms. Sarmah has participated in esteemed events such as the 72nd Indian Pharmaceutical Congress in Nagpur and many Seminars. Additionally, she was honored with the 3rd best poster award at NIPER Guwahati during the One-day National Symposium on Challenges and Opportunities in the Management of Neurological Disorders. She has honed her skills through active engagement in hands-on workshops and training on instruments used in the pharmaceutical field. Ms Sarmah has participated in a national-level online review article writing competition on “A Nutritional Approach Towards the Prevention and Management of Cancer,” organized by Academic Decipher Press, Mumbai. Her exemplary contribution was selected for publication as a book chapter, showcasing her expertise in communicating scientific concepts effectively. She authored 2 review articles and a book chapter in reputed journals in the pharmaceutical field.
To further augment her practical understanding, Ms. Sarmah completed a rigorous 30-day industrial training program at Indichemie Sikkim, gaining valuable insights into pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and quality control measures.
Apart from academics, she is good at culture specially singing. She has completed Visharad degree in Classical music. She worked as a co-coordinator and organized many cultural events in her previous working institution.
