Mr. Angshumaan Goswami joined as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences, Girijananda Chowdhury University, Assam, on 10th August 2026. He is involved in teaching, academic mentoring, and student development in the field of Medical Laboratory Sciences, with particular academic interests in Hematology, Blood Banking, Transfusion Medicine, and laboratory technology.
He completed his Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Sciences (BMLS) from the Regional Institute of Paramedical and Nursing Sciences (RIPANS), under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, and affiliated with Mizoram University in 2024. He subsequently pursued his Master of Medical Laboratory Sciences (MMLS) with specialization in Hematology and Blood Banking from RIPANS, completing his postgraduate studies in 2026.
During his postgraduate studies, he undertook his dissertation titled “Development and Validation of a Low-Cost Arduino-Based Automated Leishman Stainer for Peripheral Blood Smear Evaluation in Primary Healthcare Laboratories Compared to Manual Staining Methods.” The work focused on developing and validating an affordable, semi-automated staining system using Arduino-based technology, with the broader objective of improving the efficiency, consistency, and accessibility of peripheral blood smear staining in resource-limited laboratory settings. His research interests therefore extend beyond conventional laboratory medicine to include laboratory automation, low-cost biomedical innovation, hematology diagnostics, and technology-driven solutions for healthcare.
As part of his professional training, he completed an extensive clinical internship at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, Guwahati, gaining practical exposure to various disciplines of Medical Laboratory Sciences. He also received exposure training at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, further broadening his understanding of advanced laboratory practices and diagnostic services.
His academic interests are complemented by his involvement in research activities. He has contributed to academic literature through his publication, “Medical Laboratory Technology Education 2047: Bridging Bhartiya Gyan Parampara and Global Standards for a Vikasit Bharat,” and has also contributed to academic work in the form of a book chapter. His professional interests include hematology and transfusion medicine, laboratory quality management, research methodology, laboratory automation, and the integration of emerging technologies into medical laboratory education and practice.
As an educator, he believes in combining sound theoretical knowledge with practical laboratory skills, critical thinking, research aptitude, and ethical professional practice. He aims to encourage students to look beyond routine laboratory procedures and develop a deeper understanding of the scientific principles, clinical significance, and technological developments underlying modern laboratory medicine.
Beyond academics, he enjoys exploring new technologies and ideas, travelling, learning new skills, and engaging with people from diverse backgrounds. He is particularly interested in continuous learning and in exploring innovative approaches that can contribute to the advancement of Medical Laboratory Sciences and healthcare education.
