Biography

Dr. Tahmina Begum Laskar joined the Centre for Legal Studies, Girijananda Chowdhury University, as an Assistant Professor of Law on 3rd August, 2026. A dedicated academic with an excellent scholastic record, she holds a B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), LL.M., has qualified the UGC-NET, and was awarded the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Law in 2024.

Her doctoral research, titled “Mental Health as Human Right in India: Application of Mental Healthcare Laws and Policies in the State of Assam,” reflects her keen interest in the intersection of human rights, mental health, and public policy. With more than six years of teaching experience in legal education, Dr. Laskar is committed to nurturing critical thinking, ethical values, and academic excellence among law students.

An active researcher and lifelong learner, she has participated in numerous national and international seminars and conferences and has published several research articles in reputed peer-reviewed journals. Her academic interests include Criminal Law, Civil Law, Human Rights, Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence and Socio-Legal Studies. Through her teaching and research, Dr. Laskar continues to contribute meaningfully to legal scholarship and the advancement of justice-oriented legal education.
