Biography

Dr. Pallab Jyoti Das joined the Department of Civil Engineering as an Assistant Professor on August, 2022. At present, he is teaching the curriculum courses related to structural engineering discipline and some other key courses in civil engineering like engineering graphics and design, optimization techniques in civil engineering, and remote sensing and GIS.

Dr. Pallab has completed his Ph.D. in Structural Engineering specialization (thesis work in the broad area of retrofitting and strengthening of structures) from Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. Prior to that, he has done his under-graduation (B.Tech) in Civil Engineering from National Institute of Technology Silchar. He has also gone through multiple internship programs during his UG course in reputed organizations like ONGC Cachar, Assam and CBRI Roorkee, Uttarakhand.

His research interests are seismic response control of structures, application of control devices for strength and ductility enhancement, and seismic vulnerability assessment of structures designed/retrofitted with seismic control devices.

Apart from research, he is also interested in learning and teaching, and intend to provide students with a solid foundation of curriculum courses along with understanding of modern day courses/techniques.

He has learnt Tabla and completed Visharad Examination (Pt. 1) under BhatkhandeSangitVidyapith, Lucknow. He has secured all India rank 1761 in GATE Examination-2015 and state rank 9 inMathletics Competition-2009 (Cat-IV) organized by the Assam Academy of Mathematics.
