Dr Lipi Goswami, Assistant Professor & HOD(i/c), Dept of Physics joined the GIMT as a Lecturer on 1st September, 2006, the year of inception of GIMT, Guwahati. She has also served as the HOD(i/c), in the department from September 2011 to July 2016. She was a member of the Academic Council, GIMT from Sept 2006 to July 2016, and from April 2023 to present.
She is an active member responsible for different academic and extracurricular activities of the University. She was the Faculty Incharge of the Institute magazine, GIMTECH for 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th editions. Moreover she served as the Chief Mentor of GIMT from July 2018 to present. She is a member of the IQAC and also NAAC. As a member of the first admission committee of GCU, she is the coordinator of the Prospectus Committee. She was also awarded with the ‘Best Faculty Award’ , Dept. of Physics, GIMT in the year, 2010.
She did her graduation, postgraduation and PhD from Gauhati University. She obtained 6th position with distinction in her graduation (1998) and 2nd position in her post graduation (2001). Her special paper in MSc is Nuclear Physics and Cosmic Radiation. The title of her PhD thesis is, ‘ On characteristics of some semiconductor and metal nanoparticles related to the possible applications on Electronics and Biomedical Sciences’. She worked on chemical synthesis of PbS quantum dots and green synthesis of Silver nanoparticles in tea extracts and their subsequent applications in Electronics and Biomedical Sciences. During her research tenure, she also worked at Dept of Chemistry, GU, Dept. of Applied Sciences, GU, Dept. Of Physics, TU, SAIF, NEHU, Shillong, IASST, Guwahati and IIT, Guwahati. Her research guide is Prof ( Mrs) Pranayee Datta, retd HOD, Dept of Electronics and Communication Technology, Gauhati University. Dr Lipi Goswami has published seven research papers in reputed journals and also two books on Engineering Physics. She has also presented papers in various International and National Conferences.
Prior to joining GIMT, she also worked as a Lecturer in Arya Vidyapeeth College, Guwahati for four consecutive years. During this period, she taught Physics in Higher Secondary, Undergraduate ( Hons and Pass) levels. She has also experience in examination work in National Open School. After her MSc, she also taught in Guru Nanak School, Guwahati, Amity Academy, Guwahati and Gyandeep Academy, Guwahati for a few months. She has a long teaching and administrative experience.
