Dr. Bhaswati Sarmah joined the Department of Political Science, Girijananda Chowdhury University as an Assistant Professor in 2023. Her area of interest covers International Relations, India’s Foreign Policy, Soft Power, Diaspora Studies, Refugee Studies, and Indian Political Thought.
Dr. Sarmah completed her BA, MA, M.Phil. and PhD from Cotton College, Cotton College State University and Sikkim University respectively. Dr. Sarmah started her teaching career in 2015 and worked in different institutions before joining GCU.
Dr. Sarmah has been invited as resource person, speaker and chair at different seminars and panel discussions. She has also presented her research papers in several International and National Seminars and Conferences and published her research articles in journals and books. She is also a life member of the Indian Political Science Association and UNESCO Association, Guwahati.
Apart from her academic engagements, Dr. Sarmah continues to write articles in magazines and newspapers. Along with writing, she is passionate about painting, crafting and travelling. She considers teaching a collaborative journey of learning and growth and is dedicated to nurturing an environment of trust and mutual respect with her students.
