Mr. Abhinandan Kalita is a dedicated faculty member in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE). With a strong background in teaching (12 years) and research (5 years), he brings knowledge and expertise to his role as a faculty member. Mr. Kalita completed his B.E. in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering and M.Tech in Electronics and Communication Technology from the University of Gauhati. He is pursuing his Ph.D. at NIT Meghalaya, specializing in medical image analysis using deep learning techniques. His doctoral research focuses on developing an efficient algorithm for lung conditions. His research findings have been published in reputable journals and presented at conferences, earning him recognition for his contributions to the field. Looking ahead, Mr. Kalita aims to further his research on technologies that aid doctors in their clinical findings. He envisions developing novel engineering solutions to address diseases and contribute to the healthcare sector.
As a faculty member in ECE, Mr. Kalita is committed to providing a high-quality education to his students. He teaches a variety of courses, including Signals & Systems, Network Theory, Digital Signal Processing, Image Processing and Pattern Recognition, Wireless Communication and Networking, Random Variables and Stochastic Processes, Advanced Programming, Machine Learning, Statistical Communication, Speech Signal Processing, Control Systems-I, Instrumentation Engineering etc. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Mr. Kalita maintains an active research agenda. He has secured grants as Principal Investigator from reputed funding agencies, such as World Bank, MHRD, AICTE, etc., to apply his research findings to practical applications. He also earned the title ‘IDEA Guru’ at NSUT, New Delhi, in 2021. Currently, he is working as the Co-coordinator of the AICTE-IDEA lab and Coordinator of the Incubation Cell at the University. He is also the Head of the Centre for Performing Arts at the University.
Recognized for his expertise, Mr. Kalita has been invited several times to serve as External Examiner in other Universities and has reviewed research papers for reputable journals. He actively participates in professional organizations and stays updated with the latest advancements in his field. He is a life member of professional bodies, namely ISTE, ISRD, IAENG, etc. He has organized and acted as Coordinator in more than 50 events (including FDPs, industrial visits, webinars, skilling programmes, relief camps, awareness workshops, etc.) at the University. Mr. Kalita is also dedicated to mentorship and guides 10 students. He has also guided more than 20 B.Tech and M.Tech projects. He serves as a faculty coordinator for the M.Tech programme in ECE, supporting students in their personal and professional growth. Mr. Kalita has been competitive since elementary school. His competitiveness was evidenced by his 7th and 11th ranks in the National Science Olympiad and 5th in the Mathematics Olympiad. He also volunteers his time to engage with local schools, promoting education and inspiring young minds to pursue careers in engineering.
