Mr. Abhinandan Kalita is a dedicated faculty member in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), bringing over 15 years of teaching experience and 5 years of research expertise. He completed his B.E. in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering and M.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Technology from Gauhati University. Currently, he is pursuing his Ph.D. at National Institute of Technology Meghalaya, where his research focuses on medical image analysis using deep learning techniques, particularly in developing efficient algorithms to detect and analyze lung conditions. Mr. Kalita’s research contributions have been published in reputed journals and presented at national and international conferences. He also holds two patents, reflecting his commitment to innovation and applied research. His future research vision centres on developing intelligent technologies that assist medical professionals in clinical decision-making and contribute meaningfully to the healthcare sector.
As an educator, Mr. Kalita is committed to delivering high-quality instruction across a wide range of subjects, including Signals & Systems, Network Theory, Digital Signal Processing, Image Processing and Pattern Recognition, Wireless Communication and Networking, Random Variables and Stochastic Processes, Machine Learning, Statistical Communication, Speech Signal Processing, Control Systems, Instrumentation Engineering, and Advanced Programming. His teaching approach integrates theoretical knowledge with practical insights, preparing students for both academic and industry challenges.
Beyond teaching, he maintains an active research and development profile. He has secured research grants as Principal Investigator from prestigious agencies such as the World Bank, Ministry of Education (formerly MHRD), and All India Council for Technical Education. He was awarded the title of “IDEA Guru” at Netaji Subhas University of Technology in 2021. He also played a pivotal role in establishing the AICTE IDEA Lab at the university, a facility funded with ₹1.1 crore, where he currently serves as the Tech Guru. In addition, he has contributed significantly to institutional development by drafting the Incubation Policy for the University’s Incubation Cell.
Mr. Kalita actively contributes to academic and cultural life on campus. He is the Founder Coordinator of the University’s Cultural Club and serves as the Head of the Centre for Performing Arts. He has organized and coordinated over 50 events, including Faculty Development Programs (FDPs), industrial visits, webinars, skill development initiatives, relief camps, and awareness workshops.
Recognized for his academic expertise, Mr. Kalita has served as an external examiner for multiple universities and as a reviewer for reputed journals. He is a life member of professional organizations such as Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), Institute of Research and Development (ISRD), and International Association of Engineers (IAENG). He is deeply committed to student mentorship and is currently guiding 10 students, while having supervised over 20 B.Tech. and M.Tech. projects. Additionally, he serves as the Faculty Coordinator for the M.Tech. programme in ECE.
Mr. Kalita demonstrated academic excellence from an early age, securing ranks in national-level competitions, including 7th and 11th positions in the National Science Olympiad and 5th position in the Mathematics Olympiad. He also engages in outreach activities with local schools, inspiring young students to pursue careers in engineering and technology. Through his dedication to teaching, research, innovation, and mentorship, Mr. Kalita continues to contribute significantly to academia and strives to empower the next generation of engineers to solve complex real-world challenges.
