NCC Raising Day (10th August 2024)

An NCC unit was launched at Girijananda Chowdhury University by the Honourable Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Power, Cooperation, Indigenous and Tribal Faith and Culture, Assam – Smt. Nandita Garlosa. To mark the occasion, a formal launching ceremony was held at the University on 10th August, 2024. Apart from the Honourable Minister, this mega event was also graced by a number of officers of Indian Army under the Guwahati Group of NCC: Brig Ajit Kumar Borah (Group Commander) was the Guest of Honour. From the Girijananda Chowdhury University side: Vice Chancellor Prof. Kandarpa Das and President of the SSA Society Sri Jashodaranjan Das also took part in launching of the NCC unit. The mega event showcased the role and significance of NCC in our life for building the overall personality for youth building. The NCC cadets of the battalion alongwith the students of GCU displayed two group songs and two group dances marking the event to be successful.

The NCC unit of the Girijananda Chowdhury University is raised as a part of its mission to facilitate holistic development of the students and provide an opportunity to the youth in Nation building. The NCC unit of the Girijananda Chowdhury University will be operated under the administration of 7 Assam Battalion, Dhubri of NER Directorate of NCC.

The presence of the Honorable Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Power, Cooperation, Indigenous and Tribal Faith and Culture – Smt. Nandita Gorlosa was highly motivating for the University and the newly recruited cadets. Speaking on the occasion Smt. Garlosa highly appreciated the role of NCC, a prestigious institution that has contributed immensely to the development of our youth and the service of our nation. She highlighted how the NCC has been a beacon of hope and inspiration for countless young men and women, instilling in them the values of duty, integrity, and service. She urged the authorities of the Girijananda Chowdhury University to facilitate the young cadets so that the NCC unit at the University can cultivate responsible citizens who contribute positively to society.

The one-and-a-half-hour event was organized under the coordination of C.T.O. of NCC at GCU – Mr. Alokojjwal Das and his team alongwith the Commanding Officer of 7 Assam Battalion, NCC – Col. A. P. Agarwal with 4 JCOs of the battalion. 40 cadets of 7 Assam Battalion and around 50 cadets from various battalions under Guwahati Group participated to make the event a grand success. The cadets showcased a charismatic display of Guard of Honour to the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour. The event ended with a memento being given to the excellent performing ANO under 7 Assam Battalion NCC and thereby NCC song.
