WHAT IS A POLITICAL MAP?

A political map of India shows the boundaries, states, and union territories of the country, along with significant administrative divisions. Here are some key details:

PURPOSE

These maps help in locating various regions and understanding the political and administrative framework of the country.

BORDERS, STATES & UNION TERRITORIES

As of 2024, India is divided into 28 states and 8 Union Territories. States like Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and West Bengal are among the largest in terms of population, while Goa and Sikkim are smaller in size.

India’s political map shows its international borders with Pakistan to the west, China and Nepal to the north, Bangladesh and Myanmar to the east, and Sri Lanka to the south (across the Palk Strait). It also depicts internal boundaries separating states and union territories.
