Two-week Summer Internship Program on Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning

The Department of Computer Science & Engineering at Girijananda Chowdhury University, Assam, successfully organized a two-week Summer Internship Program on “Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning” from July 22, 2024, to August 3, 2024. Coordinated by Mr. Dipjyoti Deka and Mr. Adarsh Pradhan, this program aimed to provide an in-depth understanding of AI and ML concepts to the 5th Semester Diploma Students from Assam Engineering Institute, Guwahati. The workshop featured a meticulously planned schedule covering a wide range of topics, from introductory concepts in AI and ML to advanced deep learning techniques. Faculty members, including Prof. Minakshi Gogoi, Dr. Th. Shanta Kumar, Mr. Adarsh Pradhan and Mrs. Manjula Kalita led the sessions, ensuring that students received high-quality instruction and hands-on experience.

The workshop began with an overview of AI/ML, introducing key concepts such as supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning, as well as evaluation metrics like accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, and ROC curves. Subsequent sessions delved into various machine learning algorithms, including linear regression, logistic regression, k-NN, SVM, decision trees, random forests, and naive Bayes classifiers. The program also included a comprehensive introduction to neural networks and deep learning, focusing on CNN architecture and applications in image recognition and computer vision. Students gained practical experience through a Python programming lab and worked on a capstone project under the guidance of assigned faculty members. The workshop concluded with a certificate distribution and a valedictory session, marking the successful completion of an enriching educational experience.
