The inaugural session of GCUMUN 2024 began with the chief guests lighting the ceremonial lamp along with the top dignitaries of Girijananda Chowdhury University. The session was kickstarted by Shri Jasoda Ranjan Das, President, SSA Society, delivering a warm welcome address.
Prof. Jayanta Deka, Chancellor, GCU, and Prof. Kandarpa Das, Vice Chancellor, GCU, spoke about the central role of GCUMUN ‘24 in upholding the fundamental values of the United Nations.
The Guests of Honour – Shri Ritupon Gogoi, Executive Director, Foundation for Social Transformation, and Prof. Akhil Ranjan Dutta of Gauhati University – in turn discussed the benefits of introducing students to the world of global diplomacy.
