An industrial visit was conducted on 11th April 2025 for the 6th Semester students of the Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) Department of Girijananda Chowdhury University, Assam to the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), Borjhar, Azara. A total of 38 students participated in the visit, accompanied by faculty members Ms. Shrabani Medhi, Ms. Mala Ahmed, Ms. Dharitri Sarkar, and Ms. Gitanjali Devi from the CSE Department. The visit was organized with the objective of bridging the gap between academic learning and industry practices, offering students real-time exposure to a government-led technology and incubation ecosystem.
The program began with a cordial welcome from the STPI team, followed by an insightful presentation introducing the organization’s mission, vision, and its pivotal role in fostering the IT sector, especially in the North Eastern region. Students were then taken on a tour of the Incubation Centre, where they explored the startup workspaces and learned about the resources available for budding entrepreneurs. A major highlight of the visit was the IoT Lab, where students observed practical demonstrations of IoT-enabled technologies. Furthermore, the STPI team conducted a session on various startup incubation schemes and funding opportunities, including initiatives like NGIS and programs supported by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). The students were encouraged to consider turning their innovative ideas into viable tech-based startups.
The visit was highly enriching and beneficial for the students, offering a first-hand look into how innovation, mentorship, and infrastructure come together to support the growth of startups. It also inspired students to think beyond conventional career paths and consider entrepreneurship as a promising avenue. The CSE Department expresses heartfelt gratitude to the entire team at STPI Borjhar, Azara, for their warm hospitality, informative sessions, and commitment to nurturing young minds in the field of technology and innovation.
