On 3rd March, 2025, the B.Tech 4th semester students of Department of Mechanical Engineering, Girijananda Chowdhury University, Guwahati along with Mr. Swapnaneel Sarma, (Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering Department) and Mr. Nilam Bharadwaj (Laboratory Instructor, Mechanical Engineering Department) visited Marico Limited production facility in Brahmaputra Industrial Park, North Guwahati, Assam.
The visit aimed to provide the students with a comprehensive understanding of the engineering and technological aspects involved in the production processes at Marico Limited. The state-of-the-art Brahmaputra Industrial Park facility adheres to stringent quality and safety standards, producing a wide range of products.
During the visit, the students were given an extensive tour of the production unit, with a focus on the mechanical engineering aspects. They observed the various stages of production, starting from the reception of raw materials to the packaging of finished goods.
The students also had the opportunity to learn about the different types of machinery used in the manufacturing process. They observed large-scale mixers, reactors, and filling machines, which are integral to the production of hair oils, Saffola oats, Livon hair serum, and other water-based products. The facility’s engineers provided detailed explanations of the working principles, maintenance requirements, and safety measures associated with these machines. One of the key takeaways from the visit was the importance of quality control in the production process.
Overall, the industrial visit to Marico Limited provided the mechanical engineering students with valuable insights into the practical applications of their field. It was an enriching experience that enhanced their understanding of the engineering principles, technologies, and sustainability practices involved in modern manufacturing.
