The Department of English and Foreign Languages, GCU in collaboration with Doom Dooma College, Tinisukia, Dakshin Kamrup Girls College, Mirza, Sipajhar College, Darrang, Rangia College, Rangia, Dispur College, Guwahati, Chhaygaon College, Chhaygaon, Swahid Peoli Phukan College, Namti, Sonapur College, Sonapur, Digboi Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Digboi, Arya Vidyapeeth College, Guwahati, B.Baruah College, Guwahati, Pub Bongsar College, Singimari, North Guwahati College, Guwahati, Kharupetia College, Darrang, B. H. College, Howly, Barpeta Girls’ College, Barpeta, Tezpur College, Tezpur and Nabajyoti College, Kalgachia organized the International Symposium on the Intersection of Language, Culture, and Identity.
The event commenced with the inauguration of the Conference Proceeding “Borders and Boundaries: Indigenous Cultures Now and Then” by President, SSA Society, Jasoda Ranjan Das, Hon’ble Chancellor, Prof. Jayanta Deka, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kandarpa Das and the invited resource persons.
The book is a collection of the papers that were presented at the conference “Beyond Borders and Boundaries: Indigenous Cultures Now and Then,” which was organized on January 22-23, 2024, edited by Dr. Nilakshi Goswami, Dr. Jupitara Boro, Priti Sarmah, and Manashi Devi.
Two eminent scholars, Professor Sharif Atiquzzaman, Professor of English, Principal Government Brajalal College Khulna, Bangladesh and Professor Adnan Khadim Al-Karghood, Professor of Spanish Language and Translation, Al al-Bayt University, Mafraq, Jordan were invited as Resource Persons for the symposium.
The symposium served as a forum for the exchange of ideas, the promotion of discussions and the emergence of fresh perspectives. 44 academic representatives from various MOU signed colleges with GCU attended the symposium in an effort to promote an environment of intellectual exchange and collaboration.
