EUPHUISM 2025 concludes with Asees Kaur’s power-packed performance

The four-day annual festival of Girijananda Chowdhury University, Varsity Week: EUPHUISM 2025, came to a spectacular conclusion with a power-packed performance by noted Bollywood singer Asees Kaur on 8th March. The dazzling celebration of music and poetry, dance and dramafeatured a wide array of activities including debates, elocution, singing, folk dances and technical competitions like robotics and circuitronics.

In the past, EUPHUISM has hosted some of the greatest musical talent of this country, including Euphoria, Zubeen Garg and Papon. This year, the award-winning singer Asees Kaur, India’s third-most streamed female artist on Spotify with over 10 billion views and plays delivered an electrifying live performance with her chart-topping hits and soaring vocals.The youth fest also grooved to the pulsating beats of DJ Tony, who set the stage on fire with a riveting mashup of old and new chartbusters on 7th March. Other key events included Mr. and Miss GCU, Robo Soccer and Robo Race, Circuitronics, Gameathon and GCU Hackathon, Folk Fusion Fiesta, Loud & Live, Symphony Saga, Street Battle and a vibrant Cultural Rally.

Themed ‘RETRO REWIND’ this year, the university fest hosted nearly 25 formal events, featuring an eclectic array of activities catering to every interest and prizes worth almost Rs. 2.5 lakh. Apart from Coca Cola (title sponsor for EUPHUISM 2025) and ITC, our other partners included major brands such as GPlus, 92.7 BigFM and Pratidin Time, NorthEast Now, Crafty, Exam Shastraz, DS Enterprise, D’Wave Studio, Neolynx, Only Chef Culinary School (artiste’s food partner) and Raahi Group of Companies (travel and hospitality partner). A dazzling range of stimulating inter-college competitions were also held, including Battle of Bands, Folk Dance, Folk Orchestra, Photography, Drama, Skit and Debate, with thousands of visitors attending the celebrations. The audience particularly enjoyed a special Bhaona performance delivered by GCU students in honour of the renowned saint ShrimantaShankardev.

The festival concluded with a grand closing ceremony, marking a memorable end to the event. Shri Jasoda Ranjan Das, President, SSA, delivered the welcome address, followed by addresses by Prof. Jayanta Deka, Chancellor, GCU and Prof. Kandarpa Das, Vice-Chancellor, GCU, who emphasized the significance of the annual cultural festival in shaping the collective ethos of GCU as well as connecting with the immensely diverse cultures of Assam, India and beyond. Shri Diganta Barah, IGP Assam Police, and internationally renowned mime artist Shri Moinul Haque graced the occasion as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively and praised the execution and all-embracing scope of EUPHUISM 2025. This was followed by the prize distribution ceremony, where the winners of nearly 25 inter-college and intra-college events held within the festival were bestowed the top prizes. The closing ceremony finished with a scintillating performance by renowned violinist Mr. Manoj Baruah and his band, followed by an enchanting bihu dance by GCU students.
