On 4th November 2024, the Social Welfare Club, in association with NSS Unit 2 of Girijananda Chowdhury University, Guwahati, conducted a street play as part of an awareness campaign focused on drug and alcohol addiction. This event took place in front of the Computer Science Department at Gauhati University.
The street play provided a creative platform to raise awareness about the dangers of substance abuse. The objective of the program was to educate the community, especially young people, on how addiction can harm personal relationships, health, and future prospects through a relatable and entertaining format.
The play drew a large audience, and its interactive elements made the message more powerful, as viewers felt connected to the characters and themes. They praised the realistic depiction of addiction’s impact on families and appreciated the educational approach.
A total of 26 participants were involved in the campaign, including 16 student members of the Social Welfare Club, 7 NSS Unit-2 volunteers, and 3 faculty members from the Social Welfare Club.
