An Internal Hackathon for the AICTE-Smart India Hackathon 2024 was organized at Girijananda Chowdhury University (GCU), Guwahati, Assam, on the 14th of September 2024. The Internal Hackathonserves as a preliminary round for the AICTE-Smart India Hackathon (SIH), where they will compete against the brightest minds from across the country in solving complex societal and industrial challenges.The internal hackathon not only gave students the opportunity to focus on problem-solving and creativity, fostered an innovative environment for students to showcase their technical skills. The event saw participation from students across the departments of Computer Science & Engineering and Computer Application, who formed teams to tackle real-world challenges. The hackathon,co-ordinated by Adarsh Pradhan, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, GCU,was organized in association with the Coding Clubof GCU, which provided the platform and support for the event.
The students worked on a variety of problem statements, which were sourced from top-tier organizations such as DRDO, Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), and the Indian National Center for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS). Projects ranged from the development of advanced conversational chatbots capable of image recognition to intelligent document processing systems and safety-enhancing mobile applications for coastal tourism.A key highlight of the event was the rigorous evaluation process, which focused on several aspects including innovation, technical feasibility, scalability, and real-world impact. The judging panel comprised experienced faculty members, ensuring a fair and comprehensive assessment.
