The Department of Business Administration at Girijananda Chowdhury University recently organized an educational industrial visit for the MBA 3rd semester students to the Marico production plant on October 4th, 2024, located at Brahmaputra Industrial Park, Amingaon. The visit aimed to provide students with a deeper understanding of the inner workings of a major consumer goods company, with a particular focus on Marico’s production process, from raw material handling to the final product. Led by faculty members Dr. Dhruva Jyoti Sharma and Dr. Abhinav Sarma, the visit exposed students to the sophisticated technologies used in production, quality control, and packaging. They witnessed how Marico ensures consistency and high standards in the production of its well-known personal care and wellness products. In addition to observing the manufacturing operations, the students were given a detailed walkthrough of the company’s supply chain management practices, highlighting how the company optimizes efficiency while maintaining quality.
One of the highlights of the visit was an interactive session with the HR Manager of the plant, where students discussed industry trends, workforce management, and the role of human resources in maintaining operational excellence. This provided them with invaluable insights into the challenges and strategies involved in managing a large-scale manufacturing unit. The students gained a holistic view of business operations, combining the technical aspects of production with the managerial and logistical components that support a successful enterprise. The industrial visit not only enhanced the students’ theoretical knowledge by providing them with a hands-on learning experience, but also encouraged them to explore various career paths in production management, quality control, supply chain logistics, and human resource management. By bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world business practices, this visit was a transformative experience that contributed to the students’ professional growth and preparedness for the business world.
