Biography

Dr. Jyoti Mishra is an Assistant Professor in the Dept. of English and Foreign Languages, Girijananda Chowdhury University, Guwahati, Assam. She has a PhD from the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology-Madras, Chennai, India. Her doctoral thesis was titled “Of Gods, Men and the Politics of the “Chosen”: Competing Masculinities and Nationalism in Religio-Mythological Hollywood Epics, 2010-2016”. She works in the area of Popular Culture Studies, Film Studies, Gender Studies, and Popular Geopolitics. She has presented her research in national and international conferences and her research publications centre on Hollywood epic films, masculinity, religion, mythology and nationalism. Her current research interests lie in the interaction between films, OTT content, social media and the production of dominant narratives with special focus on Indian national and regional popular culture.
