Biography

I am Dr. Sharmila Sharan working as Senior Assistant Professor in Girijananda Chowdhury University in Guwahati. I am from garment and lifestyle industry where I worked for 21 years in Delhi and switched up to teaching out of passion for it. I am a PhD in Management. My extensive research is on Delhi’s Garment Retail
RTW Market. I belong to the industry which I feel must be considered as FMCG. The ever-changing trend and seasonal demand based fast moving consumer goods category. This requires more readiness in professionals and companies to stand competition and market demand. I have 14 years of teaching experience. I am a qualified professional in Management and in Design. I am an accomplished designer, marketing professional, and management analyst. My research area majorly is Marketing, Consumer buying behaviour, retailing, education, business ethics, Art, and Handicraft. I believe in expanding my expertise, contributing to society, adopting, and learning new things which could enhance my proficiency and competence as a professional. I enjoy using my industry experience and skills to contribute to my teaching. While working with eminent brands I have experience of launching bands and handling responsibilities from marking research, forecasting merchandise to procurement, developing product lines and market analysis. Worked as Project director (BID) & Senior faculty in Kathmandu college of management (KCM) Siam University, Thailand and as Associate Professor in Royal Thimphu college, Bhutan, I have an exposure working on various successful industry projects giving students opportunity to sensitize with industry working culture. I believe in expanding my expertise, contributing to society, adopting, and learning new things which could enhance my proficiency and competence as a professional. I am an accomplished designer, marketing professional, and analyst.
