Dr. Tejoswita Gogoi joined as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Girijananda Chowdhury University, Guwahati, Assam in July 2024. With a rich academic background and a dedication to the field of psychology, she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her students. Dr. Gogoi embarked on her academic journey with a strong foundation in humanities and psychology. She completed her HSLC (10th standard) and HSSLC (12th standard) from CBSE, Kolkata. Her passion for psychology led her to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Pune, followed by a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Savitribai Phule Pune University (formerly the University of Pune). Her passion for understanding human emotions and behavior led her to complete her Ph.D. in Affective Science from Sikkim University (a Central University). Dr. Gogoi is multilingual, and fluent in English, Assamese, Hindi, Nepali, Bengali, Nagamese, and Marathi, showcasing her versatility in communication. This linguistic versatility enhances her ability to connect with a diverse student body and research community. Dr. Gogoi’s career in academia commenced as a Lecturer at Padmashree Dr. D.Y. Patil Arts, Commerce, and Science College in Pune. She has also served as a Guest Speaker at the Institute of National Integration (INI), College of Military Engineering (CME) in Pune. She then served as an Assistant Professor at Assam down town University and currently holds a position at Girijananda Chowdhury University, contributing significantly to the Department of Psychology.
Dr. Gogoi has contributed significantly to psychological research, with notable publications exploring psychological and physical factors among defense personnel, emotional reactions among older adults, the impact of virtual relationships on loneliness, and studies on teenage pregnancy and emotional well-being in various communities, published in Scopus-indexed journals and edited volumes. An active participant in academic conferences, Dr. Gogoi has presented her research at numerous national and international conferences. Her topics range from depression and loneliness among disabled soldiers to shame and guilt studies among adolescents and the elderly. She has also attended various workshops and seminars, continually enhancing her expertise in psychological fields like industrial-organizational psychology, expressive art therapies, learning disabilities, psychotherapy, data analysis, research methodology, and mental health.
Dr. Gogoi is a member of the Institute of National Integration’s Faculty of Visiting Academicians. She has received a UGC National Fellowship for continuing her Ph.D. research and the Prof. Dipak Bhat Award for Best Research Paper, recognizing her contributions to psychology.
