Dr. Neelutpal Gogoi joined as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacognosy, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences (Girijananda Chowdhury University) in October 2024. Dr. Gogoi has professional experience of 9 years in Research and Education in different organizations like RDTL (Guwahati), Dibrugarh University and NIPER Guwahati.
Dr. Gogoi obtained his Ph.D. degree in Pharmaceutical Science from the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dibrugarh University in June 2023 where he focused on the identification of antimalarial phytoconstituents from traditional antimalarial herbal remedies of Assam. During his Ph.D. tenure, he received a fellowship and research grant from the Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India to carry out a project on malaria.
His main research interests are traditional herbal therapy, phytochemical characterization, and phytopharmaceutical development for malarial and microbial infections. Dr. Gogoi has hands-on experience in handling instruments and software like HPTLC, HPLC, UV-Vis spectrophotometer, IR spectrophotometer, Biovia Discovery Studio, Schrodinger, MestReNova and GraphPad Prism. He has good experience in the in vitro culture of the malaria parasite (Plasmodium falciparum) and the development of rodent malaria models for antimalarial screening of different samples. He has also worked on the culture of bacterial strains and the evaluation of in vitro antibacterial potencies of different samples.
