In the year 2022-23, the department has been established as “Department of Computer Application” under the School of Engineering and Technology of Girijananda Chowdhury University (GCU), Assam.
To develop human resources of high caliber with moral ethics and employability potentials and to produce technically competent, socially committed technocrats.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
At present the department is offering a postgraduate programme i.e. Master of Computer Application which is a three year programme and includes course work, summer project and dissertation. The course is designed to develop appropriate skills and impart comprehensive knowledge in the field of computer applications. It covers pure computer subjects´ viz., Data Structures, Algorithms, Computer Organization, Graph Theory, Object Oriented Programming and Design, Computer Graphics, Software Engineering, Formal Language and Automata Theory, Computer Networks, and many more. It provides sound academic base from which an advanced career in computer applications including the latest developments keeping pace with the industry can be developed.
Moreover the Programme has the provision for Lateral Entry admission in the 3rd semester as per the norms of AICTE and Assam Science and Technology University, Guwahati.
The department has started 3 years of Bachelor of Computer Application (B. C. A.) programme from the year 2017. Bachelor of Computer Applications (B. C. A.) is an undergraduate degree course to start a career in computer science and its application areas. The duration of the course is 3 years and divided into 6 semesters
